Looking at 2 options to get to 500 rwhp...RELIABILITY IS KEY. Budget is 10K. I have a 2001 Z06. Do I:
1. Keep the LS6, add pistons, headers, and a Supercharger, OR
2. Go NA 402 LS2, built with the best stuff (12-14K), and sell the stock engine to recoup 2-4K?
Any input is appreciated!

Just add supercharger & you are there with a ZO6. 500rwhp can be reached easily & reliably with safe tune & 6-7psi. I would add the headers though. A&A, ECS, Procharger, Kenne Bell; plenty to choose from.

This is what i have done the 6000 miles with 0 reliability issues in my Z06 with stock LS6 motor making more than 500rwhp, with my ECS D1SC kit.
Between the two options you list however, I would go with the N/A LS2 motor as i always have loved N/A motors even more than boosted ones (probably) although I do love my current set-up. I say boost your LS6, and do nothing else for know other than headers and a clutch (have $ put aside for one) as you will need it!
As long as you stay at your targetted power level, the supercharger will get you there for less. You'll find yourself not needing to wind it out as in NA so that may balance out the reliability factor.
Any of the blowers will get you there and plan on a clutch swap at the same time or soon after you start putting the pedal to the medal, call ECS or A&A they will hook you up or look in the parts section I purchased a used A&A DS1C for lots of savings that I used for other upgrades and have not looked back

Especially if you appreciate the sound of a blower..
Why Sure!... That would cover the new LPE floormats & a catalog. The motor on the other hand will be a little over the 10k. Seriously, more & more people are talking about the KB. The DYNO charts posted on here make them look great for a small cubic inch street car.
The weak points on the LS6 motors are the pistons and rods in that order. Any form of supercharging is going to put additional stress on these parts.
If you go with a forged 402 you should be able to hit your HP goal and have good reliability. Might cost more than $10K though. Depends on how much of the work you do yourself and if you shop around.
ECS just recently came out with a set of trick heads and cam for about $6400 that got to 504 rwhp. Might want to give them a call. They have a great reputation.
I just scanned the thread, so I don't know if anyone mentioned that the increased power is going to stress your driveline a lot more. Depending on how hard you drive, you are going to need new clutch, etc. Just something to consider before jumping in with both feet.
