Default It's set in stone!!!

I have finally made all the final decisions on my engine build and have pulled the trigger. Here is the complete list of my build. I will try to get some eye candy posted on here sometime.

LS6 Bottom End Finished to 3.905 bore
Manley -12cc Dish Pistons
Scat 6.100 H Beam Forged Rods
ECS Blower Cam and Double Roller Timing Chain
MLS Head Gaskets- .056 Compressed thickness
ARP Head Studs
ARP Main Studs
Federal Mogul Bearings
Stage 5 Ported and Polished Heads
Ported Throttle Body
LS6 Intake
Vortech Supercharger-estimated 9psi.
ECS Alkycontrol Meth Kit (100% Methanol)
Spec Stage 3+ Clutch

That about does it....

Thanks ECS for all the help on my build and the parts. Also thanks to Brian over at SDPC.

Well... I am all ears guys!

I wanna hear the good, the bad, and the people riding the fence.

Congrats on finally pulling the trigger on your new combo.

What size Vortech head-unit will you be running? Did you go with the standard Vortech kit, or the DTE or A&A packages?

What is your power goal?

I was hoping for some help on this one. What clutch would you all recommend? I would like a textralia but they are way too pricey for me. My spec 3 just chattered too much and I have heard the 3+ is a lot better.

I have searched all over for an engine builder in this area and finally found a guy named Dale Voyles to do it. I have heard good things about him and he is a very standup guy.

I wish I could turn the boost up to 14 but my S-Trim wont do it.

I have a S-Trim Head Unit, its a Carroll kit. I would like to switch over to the ECS kit but the money isnt here right now.

I would be happy with anything over 600RWHP. I could be way out of range with those thoughts but would love to see it.

The Textralia comes with a flywheel currently ECS is running a special on them. I highly recommend shelling out the extra coin, last i checked a spec 3 with flywheel was in the 800's

The last spec clutch that i installed did not even bolt up to the flywheel without having to drill out a hole. I've asked around and found this is actually fairly common. Having to drill out a pressure plate like that means likely the unit's not all that balanced either. I just highly recommend just about anything other than Spec or LUK.

What can one get the new textralia clutch and flywheel for on special?

CONGRATS on your KILLER forged LS6 motor which looks very impressive and should be able to withstand a lot of forced induction punishment!

why cant the vortech s trim kit for the corvettes make big power. I just got out of the mustang community where they were making 500+rwhp on stock heads and 600+ with ported heads. I would think that if they could do that with a little 281 we should be able to do better with a 346

I couldn't agree more with this statement. I've had both these clutches in my car when it was just head and cam. I smoked the Luk in less than a year(car only gets driven on the weekends) with only 486rwhp and never went to the track. I then switched over to the spec 3, went through the break in and it wouldn't shift at high rpm's. The shop put another spec in the car and after break in the same thing happened. They switched to a centerforce dual friction and I had no problems at all. I'm not saying I recommend the centerforce for your car just saying that I would stay away from the other brands mentioned. I also had a buddy of mine with and MTI 427 went with the spec and the same thing happened to his car with the high rpm shifts.

I could be way off on this but I know my boost issues are due to effeciency. The LS1 Flows so well it takes a larger blower to create boost. With less cubic inches and less airflow an s-trim will throw a lot of boost to a 281. The 9psi. on my ported engine is maxing out my S-Trim. Someone correct me if I am wrong with this.

than why would you go with stage 5 ported heads. why not save the money and upgrade to a t trim?

Hopefully next year I can upgrade to a T-trim and throw some boost at this thing. But honestly it does sound weird but it adds up, my car on 6psi did 509RWHP on a mustang dyno. I would think on a stock engine the same pulleys would do about the same power with more boost. Boost is simply restriction so its kind of give and take. High flow=Low boost=good power, Low Flow=High Boost=Same Good power. I prefer low boost good flow and a safe setup.

Looks good to me. I will offer up the following advice. Run far and away from the federal mougal bearings. Oil pressure issue will follow soon behind. Buy Clevite bearings only. Same prices just a much better bering.

Congrats on the setup! I would strongly recommend to stay away from Spec as well. If at all, go with Textralia. Like someone mentioned ECS is running a special on them still.

I thought S trim was good upto 700+rwhp?

The S Trim is good to 680 Crank.

Oh and I checked my bearings and they are clevite and dura bond cam bearings.
