Default Forged Bottom End, please help

I'm one of the lucky ones who have been able to purchase the new APS kit and I have started the ordering of all of the parts to go along with it!! I keep going back and forth with doing the bottom end over. My car has 38000 My question is what would the cost be to go forged? Would I be better off buying a forged shortblock? I turn my own wrenches and for the actual motor build I have someone who is very knowledgeable and expierenced to do that part. The machining part, I would have to pay for. My goal is a reliable 6 - 650RWHP if I go forged. I don't need the best of the best but I need a reliable botom end, I do put miles on the car. From what I have read the stock crank would be fine, so am I looking at pistons, rods, bearings, ARP stud kit, gaskets, timing chain, oil pump. Any of you that have suggestions I would really appreciate. I'm pretty sure I want to stay stock cubes and I definately want an aluminum block, weight is important to me. Thanks for the help!! Dan

I'd drop it off at ECS and ahve them forge it, add a fuel system capable of the numbers you're talking, throw on the turbos and some meth and you'll be past 700 at the wheels reliably. or just wait till you lift the head gaskets on teh stock motor....some people get lots of time on teh stock shortblock at reasonable levels of boost, others run low on meth, run into F430 spiders and have to race them anyway......and wind up forged as a result.

your results may vary

I've also considered this route, however Dave uses LS1 block v.s. my own LS6 block and LS1 crank and not my own LS6 crank. So, I'll end up with a block and crank unused. And there is no core credit for them (at least his website doesn't mention about the core). Maybe you have a better answer. Oh, I don't want to get into selling block and crank on the forum!

Dave uses LS6 blocks-no such thing as a LS1 block anymore.
