The RoadRunner PCM emulator has actually been around for a while. It is getting more affordable. I think for $599 the PCM emulator can be had now -- it has always allowed you to make tuning changes on the fly.
The real trick is that now, EFILive can feedback things like the BEN factor (used for AutoVE) to tune air/fuel in real time through the RoadRunner. Integration between scan/tune software and the PCM (and now a real-time PCM emulator) has never been so tight!
In addition, if you read the thread, there are some suggestions around also learning where knock occurrs to tune timing automatically. Since timing is not very "time" consuming to tune, this is not as cool as the other stuff, but still cool nonetheless.
