Ok so I've read all the horror stories AFTER I purchased my timing chain. I put it on my project motor and shimmed the oil pump out with the supplied shims. Then I went to put on my timing cover and it wouldn't fit . Soooooo after 2 hours of putting the pump on and removing it taking metal off and putting on and removing and taking more metal off...then taking the cover and removing metal from that and over and over and over...it finally started to fit . WELL... Then I came home and read that the balancer must be cut on a previous post to not press up against the oil pump gears ...Is this true? If so how much do I take off? Will my belt still be aligned? ANYONE HAVE PICS???
Thanks,
John

For future reference for anyone who wants a double roller timing chain...Just go with a heavy duty single chain and save your self some time and aggrivation .
I have not seen a balancer that has needed to be cut in a couple of years to clear a double chain/pumps.
Now working on the front cover is a different story
I dont remember the last time I had to cut a balancer. once you do the first cover, the other ones take about 5 minutes of work to get em to fit. Tighten slowly too. Just to make sure.
