Default Will it handle it?

Do you think 525 RWHP with stock internals on 2004 LS1 is asking for trouble, or should it handle it?

In addition to a good tune, I would suggest better springs and most of all a methanol injection system. Probably the best insurance for FI cars for the money. Regardless, 525rwhp is nearing the edge of a stock bottom LS1.

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas

It looks like I'll probably stay with what I have, which is 475 RWHP now and should be more than happy with that. But you know how it is in the winter, you're looking for ways to fill the car time until spring.

Thanks to everyone for your help!

I'm running the stock cam right now. I've upgraded the rockers, springs, rods and injectors.

My 02 is pushing 596rwhp 515rwt on a stock bottom end. That's with an ATI P1SC!

I have a blower cam, ECS Meth kit, dual springs, and hardended pushrods. My car is tuned by Slowhawk.

I think along with these things, the tune is the MOST IMPORTANT part of the setup! My car drives like stock, and becomes an animal when the boost kicks in!

If you have a good installer and tuner, I say go for it!

Agreed. The tune (or quality of) will make or break your motor in a heartbeat.

You would be ok with a 6 speed with a good tune but in an auto you would be pushing it just a bit in my opinion

My car did 544/556 on a Mustantg Dyno last spring, Vortech V2SQ 7 LBS, 220/224, headers, LS6 intake. I have been running this setup for 22 months and 22,000 miles, no problems, except for no traction and a clutch that started slipping last month, but no motor problems.
