I'm in middle of install a NOS #5177 kit in my '97 vette. Everything is good except hooking up the MSD rpm window switch to the proper terminals. Summit had me buy a Autometer tach adaptor, but I keep getting different opinions from MSD and Autometer regarding the hook-up. Has anyone out there installed a window switch and if so, where were the connections to. PCM pin #35, or pin #10, or using the tack adaptor to a "pink" power wire to one of the coil packs? As you can see, I am all over the place with this and cannot get a straight answer from the suppliers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
White wire - #10 on the PCM. Forget the tach adapter, not needed (IMHO).
Clip the gray on the MSD and use the Yellow to ground the system when the rpm is between the low and hi settings (I ussualy have it set to kick in at 3000 and off a couple hundred before the rev limiter).
I then have it send the 12+ switched to the main nitrous relay. The ground from the MSD i run to a Fuel Pressure Safty Shutoff switch so the MSD doesn't get grounded unless you have over 35lbs of fuel pressure.
There are other ways to do this, but I've found this to be the most straight forward.
Do a search. There is a how too picture showing the PCM wire as well as another method to get the signal from under the cluster. I tapped into the white wire under the cluster on the drivers side to avoid running another wire to the engine compartment. I already have to many in the grommet behind the battery and finding the white wire under the cluster was just as easy if not easier. Rather than pull the front tire and remove the liner, I just needed to remove the driver side closeout and locate the correct harness bundle.
