In the near future My Vette is going under the knife for a TTiX kit install. Which will be the first to go at 500+ HP ? I hear the diff and others say the tranny. It will be street drived only wiith Z06 size street tires only.
Seriously considering the Novi Supercharger, what would I have to do to get at least one season out of my stock A4, thanks for the reply the other day Mark
What's the answer for 6 speeds? If you only had money to do diff or tranny which would be first?
In the case of a six speed the stock trans and differential are fine. The clutch is the first thing to go and if you're going to put a sticky tire on I'd definitely install a DTE differential strut brace (~$400).
The purpose of the strut brace is to protect the transmission when you grenade the differential.
Also a hardened output shaft is never a bad idea. ~$250.
If 6 speed stock tranny and stock diff are fine with stock tires. Just watch out for wheel hop. Also a good clutch is recommened.
I’ll double or even triple that. With an almost stock motor and sticky tires, I blew two differentials in one year. Since then, I had DTE build a super differential that would be pretty hard to break, unless I have wheel hop. Wheel hop has broken more differentials then any other single reason.
