Is there any solution to the power loss due to hot weather? Spray more meth? Could my tuning be off?
In 50 degree weather, I run 10.9x to 11.0x. Sat, with 80 degree temps, I was running 11.3x. It just doesn't seam to pull on the top end. I know there will always be some power loss, but this seams to be a big loss.
My best was in 80 degree temps on a 3000 DA day because it slowed my car down enough to run 10.50's @ just under 139 MPH on low boost.
You still have no answer, let me take a guess, last year and how many times did you race last year, twice. Why don't you hag out with me for a week and let's see if your motor can stay together. The difference between you and me is that you talk about racing and I really race!
First time I got one pass in and then it started raining.
Second time was Norwalk - times posted.
And the third time I arrived late to a private rental and the track wasn't hooking by the time I got there. It was slippery as heck and I had to abort the pass.
Even on the aborted pass it went 10.7's @ 137. Had the track hooked I'm positive I would have gone low 10's at 140.

Low boost? Why do you Turbo guy's alway's race in low boost? 139mph traps, and you did that with low boost? Don't make me laugh.

I'm serious. I tried turning up the boost and couldn't keep the car planted so I backed it back down. Remember I don't have a drag pack or anything like that.
My high boost setting is just for once-in-a-while freeway romps from 70-80+. It's really too much power to be useful without a full drag pack and a well prep'd track.
March is smack talk month in Canada
Does'nt matter what the thread is about
Dave,
If you're losing a lot of power (not just the normal hot weather amount) maybe timing is being pulled in your tune -- talk to your tuner about checking it out to see he needs to adjust something. This is about the only thing you can do, IMHO, to regain lost power and it will only have a positive effect if you are losing it because the tune was too aggressive or too conservative.
This begs the question.... I know the general consensus of the limit on a stock LS6 block is 550-600rwhp. Is that under any conditions, cold weather, hot weather, etc? If I am 573 in 60 degree temps, but 550 in 80 degree temps, can I just pulley up during warmer months? Probably asking for trouble, huh?
Yea, sorry. I meant put a smaller pulley on it now (hot weather) to keep the power level the same going from colder weather to hot weather.
Specifically:
80 degree temps - run a small pulley to bring car back to 570 rwhp
60 degree temps - run the same pulley that is in there now which gives me 570rwhp.
Is 570 rwhp on a stock block any more dangerous in 80 degree temps than 570 rwhp in 60 degree temps? Of course, assuming tuning and alky.
You canadians are some kocky bastards. Some don't build set ups to race, some do. You do what you do, and he will do what he does. If the race wasn't in Ohio, i would be more then happy to have your "certifed turbo smasher" status revoked
Could it be the IAT sensor location? I am poking around and do not even see one on my setup (A&A P1). I followed the intake from the filter to the TB, nothing. IF it was removed, how can I track it down?
Last night was a great example. Night started at 72 degrees - ran 11.38 @ 122. By the end of the night, it was 55 degrees - ran 11.08 @128.
