Default APS install problem

I finished installing the APS kit on my 99 FRC yesterday, and I have an exhaust leak on the RHS exhaust manifold against the head. The heads are 317, but didnt have any noticeable damage when I put them on. I didnt use a gasket or any sealant against the head-to-manifold since the instructions didnt say to. I think that maybe the h-pipe is pushing the downpipe out and pushing the bottom of the manifold away from the head. I havent removed the h-pipe yet to see if this works, but I was just wondering if anyone else had this problem.

That's the problem. Pick up some new stock exhaust manifold gaskets.

It because you dont have any gaskets. Install some stock gaskets and I'm sure your problems will go away. I cant think of ANY system that makes you delete your gaskets..

You're 100% correct, you do ned to use the stock exhaust manifold gaskets when installing the twin turbo system.

Please tell me that you didn't simply put no gasket in there??? I'd find that rather amusing considering the complicative nature of the APS kit itself to install.

Yeah..
This is one of those things we'll NEVER let him live down.
You ever make one of those threads then realize how stupid it was?? But by the time you realize it, everyone has seen it??

We've all been there. I've had a bunch and two were graciously caught on video tape.

Well, there are many older cars that have cast manifolds that dont use gaskets. So, I dont think it was dumb. Whats dumb is that I should have found out before I installed them. Also, the 01' and up has a different set of gaskets than mine (99') so I dont think this was a total giveaway. Anyway, thanks for the replies, as I bought a set of gaskets tonight. Also, feel free to discuss any difficulties you guys had installing the kit. For instance, I thought it was funny that the directions had me cut the metal rods in the front after I had installed the intake plumbing right next to it. I also had a lot of trouble fitting the intake flex tubing that is attached to the compressor on the right hand side. I ended up lubing it with WD-40 to get it by the AC line. All in all, it is a beautiful kit and I definately feel like I got my moneys worth plus some. Thanks Peter.

Peter has corrected the install instructions to prevent further issues step 38 now states to install new stock exhaust gaskets.

I finished my install last week. I found the left side turbo/manifold and the right side compressor intake tube to be very difficult to install. It helps to read ahead and know the steps through out the install to know what you can do to avoid difficulty ahead. I made all of the alterations to the front rad support ahead of time and installed it before I had all of the tubing etc run through it.The car really needs to be up high to be able to get the manifold and turbo angled down enough to feed them up into the engine compartment. This is very difficult on jack stands and for one person. I also assembled the oil return hoses before I connected them to the scavenge pump. The install takes a lot of work and mechanical skill but it looks awsome. APS uses very high quality parts in this kit and it is very well thought out. I will get mine tuned next friday. I will be using an EBC for boost management probably 9 lbs and spraying meth. I am hoping for 600 hp 600 torque.
