with the latest kits you notice the tank to pump line is longer, the pump should be mounted 'head down', you'll see where the tank line falls, that's where the pump will be mounted on the frame rail

Why is that? I have one of the older kits and it seems to work fine with the head upright.
And in my recent talks with Julio he never mentioned turning the pump over.

it's in the most recent version of the instructions, the information is from Julio, I asked a lot of questions
I think the new version with the head mounted down is to prevent pump motor damage from alky in case of a seal failure between the pump and the motor.
Seems to make sense I suppose.
I too installed the Julio kit on my C5 using cajundude's instructions. They are excellent.
As far as pump failure, I suppose unless you use the "test" button to see if your car stumbles at idle, it'll be hard to tell if anything is awry, right?
Aside from the above mentioned reason, the "head down" position helps protect against possible siphoning and puddling inside the intake.
Isn't that what the siphon valve near the nozzle is for? How would mounting the pump head down have any effect on puddling in the intake? Not arguing with you, just would like to know.
I have used Cajundudes tutorials for quite a few task
First time I read this one though...
I am afraid to ask, and probably shouldn't but...
Just how do you do this part?
Step 2, Paragraph 2, Sentence 2.
If only Virtual Geezer watched the C5 FI forums, we'd have a photorealistic Photochop of CajunDude umm... rotating the crankshaft... to illustrate this step.
My only question is how do you fine tune the system with out going to the dyno. I have nothing that would detect knock. Is there something I could be missing?

Not trying to argue, but since the seal is between the pump and the motor and the unit is mounted below the w/w tank the motor would still get alky in it.
