I'm trying to figure out some numbers in my head and see what would be the best route for my car. I'm going to go with the ECS Novi blower very soon and I see that guys are making very stout numbers on their forged 346's. I have a 2003 Z06 with 20k miles on it. I was just wondering for the guys that were in my shoes what path did you take, did you guys sell your LS6's and keep the LS6 heads for the new forged engine or did you just forge your existing LS6's??? Thanks
we recommend a core exchange and thats pretty much what we do all the time. The heads depend on how much power you are trying to make. Your stock LS6 heads with a mild hand port and good hardware will make an easy 750-775 rwhp. If you are looking to be in the 800 rwhp range I would do a set of Trick Flows.

I knew you love me , Yea I meant with the LS6 heads. PM me a price Chris on your core exchage. I'm trying to see what would be better for me to do first, the Novi, or the forged engine. Since I already have the DTE brace and upgraded clutch I'm getting ready for my next move. I have definitley decided on the Novi though

Get a forged motor from ECS. It will be slightly more expensive than some of the budget motors you see out there but it is worth it. So far I've pulled 764rwhp and 790rwtq out of my ECS motor and I haven't pushed the boost as far as I think it can go.
20K miles is still considered low mileage to many. You very well should be able to sell your shortblock for more than what a core exchange would give you. Just to give you an idea, I sold my 2003 LS6 long block with 8K miles on it and that paid for about 3/4 of my forged shortblock. In my experience a core will only pay for about 1/4 or less. I think the only thing that's reused with a core is the block and crank.
I went a different direction, I stoked my motor to a 383 and replaced the heads.........Im happy with 700 RWHP on my automatic! ! ! I got a set of heads from a forum guy few years ago that were ported right between stage II and III.
Good Luck, If you going to go with ECS Supercharger, minus well let them sell you a Motor and Heads since they will have your Credit Card information! ! I bet it will be very simle for them to do!
