Default zex nitrous question

i have a 97 c5 a4 and have the basic bolt-ons along with a 75hp shot of the good stuff. The kit instructions say to retard timing 2 degrees for 100hp jets and 4degrees for 150hp. My goal is to run 100hp shot without buying a ign. controller. I heard that if i use 94 octane this would allow me to go with the 100shot. Is there any truth to this information?

I used to have the zex kit on my 98. I ran the 125 jets on the stock tune with 93 octane gas with no problems. On an otherwise stock 98 6 speed vert. I was able to run consistent 12.30's@116mph.

With my 99 Totally Stock, I could spray 100 shot without any KR, above a 100 shot we needed to pull some timing, we ended up pulling I think 3° for a 175 shot.

I think you'll be ok, but it may be worth your while to monitor KR the first couple times you do it (with a handheld or a something like EFI Live or HPT).

The 94 Octane will help ya out. I was using 93 Pump gas.
