Default What's the difference between a D1SC and P1SC

Just what is the difference between the P1SC and the D1SC supercharger?

The P-1SC. P-1SC-1 and the D-1SC all use the same housing, it is the internals that are changed. The P-1SC should start building boost sooner, but I really can't tell it. If you want eight pounds of boost from either blower, you have to spin the P-1SC faster to produce the boost, meaning it requires a smaller blower pulley giving it less belt wrap. You want as much belt wrap as you can get, as it gives you fewer chances of belt slippage.
At the time of the initial order, the D-1SC is only several hundred dollars more than the P-1SC, but if you send in a P-1SC to have it made into a D-1SC, it will cost you about $1,300.00.
The P-1SC kits can come as a complete kit with a tune, but the D-1SC kits aren't sold through ATI ProCharger with a tune, meaning you would need to take your car to a shop that can dyno tune it, or purchase a mail order tune through a shop that specializes in tuning.
Since the D-1SC kits aren't sold with a supplied tune, ATI can not get them certified for California residents. I still sell a lot of them to California residents, it seems some people there know how to work the system...
I recommend the D-1SC as it allows you to add forged internals down the road, and substantially up the boost. Boost is addictive, once you taste the power, you end up wanting more! Bob

Default Radial vs Helixed

The P1SC has a billet radial impeller. The D1SC and all ATI racing blowers have a billet Helixed impeller. The billet helixed impeller produces a steeper boost curve. The D1SC comes on real strong above 3000 rpm.

The P-1SC-1 is a variation on the P1SC and has a billet helixed impeller but makes no more overall power. It is a street/strip unit.

No matter which one you buy, you'll enjoy it.

If you buy a P-1SC or a P-1SC-1, you'll have a great blower. Once you get use to the power, and you want more, you can then run out of blower.
This is where the D-1SC comes into play.

Luckily on this build, we started with the D-1SC as the car escalated from the owner just getting into forced induction, and just wanting a little more power, to the refined 740 rwhp street/road course car it is today.

When initially buying a ProCharger, the D-1SC is typically only several hundred dollars more than the P-1SC or P-1SC-1. You can send in one of these blowers to have it made into a D-1SC, but it cost over $1,300.00 and takes weeks to get it back.
Another argument for going with the D-1SC is that if you ever want to sell the blower, it is much easier to sell a D-1SC as many people have made the mistake of buying a p series and now want to step up. Bob
