I have a 01' vert that I recently had a D1SC installed I am running 516 RWHP. I had the trans brace installed, hardened output shaft, hotchkins sway bars, 3/8 tunnel plate, and a textrila OZ700 clutch set up. The textrila clutch is still yet to stop the chatter I have about 750 miles on it. I do not have the correct tire and rim combo on the car yet. I normally have a set of 19/20" rims with 305 conti's in the rear for street driving and looks. but I had to send them in to get polished, so now I am driving around with my stock 17/18" rims with the original run flats. At first when I started driving with them they would just spin in first gear and second gear until I tagged my shift light now when I shift into second..... I get wheel hop?????? Any thouhts why the change???
The only imput I know changed is the wheather is about 15 to 20 degrees hotter, and I have burned some good rubber off so now a maybe have a soft fresh new layer. I know the run flats are not the right tire at all, but are they causing my wheel hop and if so why did I not get wheel hop at first with them. I also know that the 19/20" are not my answer. but will they cause wheel hop? I just need to know what I need or can do to aviod the dreaded wheel hop before I have a costly breakage of a tranny or a rearend. What is the best tire and rim combo for mostly street with the occasional once a year drag stip run?

Thanks in advance,

The run flats have an extra stiff sidewall (less flex) which will lead to wheel hop with your kind of power.
The conventional (non-run flats) have a more flexible sidewall which gives you better traction and handling.
Most guys with big power run 18's all the way around due to sidewall heights. The larger the tire size the thinner the sidewall height.
