Default Fast intake and FI?

What all do I need to change on my Fast to keep it from breaking or cracking now that I'm going to FI?

I've heard people going as far as using apoxy to glue the parts all together to increase it's strength, but I'm not willing to take that chance with my Vette. If your intake goes pop, it'll likely take your fuel rails with it, and we all know what happens after that.

There have been a few post about the FAST intakes and FI.

Get yourself an LS2 intake set-up with a hand port job, I've been told that this really improves performance of FI motors.

depending on the boost you're using, you may want to consider a metal manifold such as a BBK or Holley.

Default fast

I have a fast 90 on my car with 15 psi from an f1-c. No problems here. I did install the Burst Panel Kit provides burst release at 38-40 psi boost.

FAST90...23psi...no problems......the FAST units are stronger than the stock units.....the polymer is a stronger type. The manifold is made by Wilson...top notch product...

Units that break ..may be due to other install issues

*edit added after post was created: FWIW I searched LS1Tech and was able to find one thread where someone exploded a FAST on startup of his new motor -- claims a big backfire was to blaim. Burst panel was not installed.

I'm not doubting that a few intakes have popped, but I am wondering what the occurrence rate of this is, and what it is due to. I have heard of FAST intakes cracking when the valley hardware is not replaced with the hardware from FAST, as the OEM bolts are too tall for the intake.

Looking at the construction of the intake it's hard to see how 15-18psi of boost could destructively blow it up and take out the fuel rails. Backfire could definitely take it out, but as you mentioned that burst panel would save it.

Again, not doubting that it has happened but I've also seen LS6 intakes go kaboom due to backfire. The pressure of a backfire event is so tremendous that *something* is going to give *somewhere*. The intake is likely the least expensive of the parts that could break (which wouldn't happen with the burst panel anyway).

If anyone has any additional info please link/post here. On the other thread that got started on the FAST burst issue I wasn't able to find any concrete information or links to concrete information.

I am guilty of this too, so I am not meaning to sound condescending, but sometimes one or two isolated incidents pick up steam and everyone starts talking about them like they are a chronic issue. If the FAST thing really is a chronic issue I want to know now

There's a thread on LS1 Tech right now on the subject, and there seems to be a few guys running the fast with 15psi plus with no problems. I'm not boosting any more than that for the time being so I'm going to hang on to the fast for a while.
