Just wondering if someone can answer this..I still have my LS1 MAF. I was spraying the dry shot through it last year with the screen in it and it froze slightly once in a while..If i remove the screen will my car run any different? Will i need to get it re tuned? Only answer if u know the answer no guesses please..thanks..Mike
I want to run a dry shot again as my second stage that is why i want to know..
You froze your MAF with a dry shot? Where do you have the nozzle located and how much of a shot are you running? You want to have the nozzle as far upstream from the MAF as possible. That way the nitrous will disperse evenly and the MAF will read the extra O2 more accurately.
If you do remove the MAF, the car will run differently because the PCM is tuned for it being in there. The difference will not be great, but it will affect how the car goes into PE mode as far as needing to add more fuel.
how do you know it froze? I know the wires are heated and they will not freeze. As for the screen there should be enough residual heat in the engine compartment to keep that from happening.

Not really. "far away" usually equates to "lean", closer is richer.. to a point. About 3"-4" seems to be the best starting point. Mine is about 4.5".

The PE mode is set by the TPS, not the direction of the flow. The screen was thought to "straighten out" the airflow but in a straight shot intake, it doesn't do anything... hence they even put it in the Z06.

dyslexic caraphobia (n). The strange disease of not knowing which side of the fence you belong on.
You should see my schedule... tonight, drop off vette get wheels/tires, then take 944 #1 to new owner, take 944 #2 to body shop, and (if time) take 944 S to detailer. Oh, pick up vette somewhere in all that mess.
Thanks guys..The reason i know i froze itis that the car fell on it's face near the end of the track. So i rotated the nozzzle to point down into the airbox and all is well..I will descreen it and give it a shot..thanks for the input guys..

Yeah, hence they put it in the 02-04 Z06 and as soon as one of them cars add a CAI and the air gets flowing a little better/faster, the UNscreened MAF's let unmetered air into the engine, cause it to run lean then throw a code for a lean condition.......... That's why 1) After a CAI people either get a tune to compensate for that (unmetered air) or 2) put in another MAF (screened) so ALL the air is metered........... OH, and GM noticed the error of their ways, HENCE why the NEW Z06's have a screen.
MY recomendation is move the nozzle as recomneded in other posts and keep your screen in!
