Default 8 rib

Hope someone can explain this, what is an 8-rib setup, and why would you put one on?

Stock serpatine drive belt has 6 ribs. People go to 8 rib for extra grip to drive supercharger at higher boost levels.

Yes you switch from a 6 rib stock belt to a wider 8 rib belt. To do this you have to switch all the pullies and idlers(alternator, powersteering, balancer, supercharger) to wider 8 rib pullies

The belt slippage happens in the higher RPM range of the blower. There is even more belt slippage as the size of the blower impeller increases.
