Default **help! My Car Blew Up**

So I was cruisin down the freeway at like 60mph and revved up to 6k and it sounded wierd....so I shifted and then started to get on it and suddenly it sounded like I sucked a sock thru the intake and shot it out the back. Then the check engine light comes on and it loses power and runs rough. I pulled over and shut it off right away, then a few seconds later started it again to move it further over....andit blew TONS of white smoke and it just sounds gawd awful. Its a z06 supercharged with 49k....I was running good gas and Im really at a loss as to what could have gone wrong. Any ideas guys!!???

I wont be able to diagnose it until later this week...but any ideas guys please.

good news is it doesn't matter what happened to it Now you have a chance to build the hell out of it ...get you a forged block and make some real power
congratulations

Haha, wonderfull just what I needed =). Well when I pull it apart I will know for sure, I think maybe I had some detonation caused by the oil vapor...??! Where is a good place to get the forged blocks and parts I would need?

And the funny thing is that I was watching the temps and the coolant maybe got to 200 if that, the oil was prob 217 or so and everything was in order, I didnt even hear pinging.....this sucks.

Sounds like you chunked out some pistons, cracked the block in four places and the heads are now shot and need a major overhaul, Your Intake will need to be replaced as well as your clutch, supercharger system and you will need to add alky. Your fuel system is not up to par so that will need to be completely replaced.

Let me know how far off I am on this guess.

I think your blew out your muffler bearing. But luckly, they are only $50. http://kalecoauto.com/index.php?main...products_id=10

Pull your plugs and see if any are wet, and then do a compression check. Check to see if you have water in youru oil too. Sorry to hear about your motor. Hope you get it back running soon.

No he's pretty serious...it kind of happened that way for me back in 2002 when I had a S/C running on a stock LS6 with a chitty tune. Walbro pumps really weren't out yet and I was dependant on the stock pump and an inline pump....I think that would have even worked but the numb nut who tuned it..tuned it to 13.1 afr...unfortunately I was among the first of many too follow.

The white smoke can be deceiving to...if oil sprayed out (like from a popped up dipstick)...it can burn on the header and make lots of white/blue smoke too. It's only really blue/grey when its getting mixed with fuel and sent out through the exhaust valves and cats.

The good news is that maybe it didn't scar up the walls of your cylinders too bad and all you will need is some forged pistons (3.905") over bore and new rods to rebuild.

I have put over 800 rwhp and torque using the stock crank...so don't waste your money on a crank unless you want to go to a 4-4.125" stroke.

I am not joking... (I am on the supercharger, clutch and fuel system) but not on the rest of my prediction.
I know this is all possible because... all that happened to me years ago.

I did go overboard on the supercharger rebuild... and only did so because I upgraded my supercharger system when I had my new engine built.

Well the thing is, the smoke was only coming from the tail pipe first off....so Im thinking I was burning coolant? Does coolant burn white? And the noise I heard wasnt like a metal on metal, it was more like a *PUUFF* and then I shut the car down with in 20 seconds.....and it wasnt making bad noises, it just wasnt idling and it didnt have a whole lot of power.....Ill see what the check engine light code is tomorrow....that might tell me more wont it?

What brand of forged pistons would you guys recommend. I would probably just replace the pistons....I dont know about the rods....would it be necessary?
