$6500 for a standard rebuild is on the steep side, so there is probably more than enough margin to give you a basic warranty. Now if it is a forged rebuild then it may cost even more than that. We run $18,000 motors in our dragsters, and if one breaks a week after we install it there is NO warranty. On a FI motor I would doubt you would get a warranty other than on an obvious defect that the shop would have caused.
We do cover our builds to an extent, but when you have a Nitrous or FI engine, there is alot of factors out of the builders control.
Most shops don't warranty engines that a power adder is used on. I have a current example at our shop right now. We built a customer's engine and reinstalled his ATI ProCharger and engine back into his 2002 Camaro. We had the air/fuel ratio at 11.5/1 and a safe timing tune in his car. He has an older ProCharger kit with the smaller 3.5" twin intercoolers, and is running 14 psi of boost with no meth... He told us he was going to install a larger intercooler system, which he never did do. Guess what happened on his 4th dragstrip run of the day? It looks like somebody took a torch to his number 7 piston, and blew a hole through it. Bob

You have to pay to play and if you can't afford to rebuild it, don't do it. Basic everyday rebuilds are one thing, FI and high HP builds, I am going to have to agree with Bob and TL on this one.
