Default Gauge Question

Dilemma?

I want a Boost Gauge so I thought Mechanical. OK BUT I hate the Single Gauge Pod.

So now I'm thinking Full Pillar Dual Pod.

What do I put (need) in the other hole? (Don't say it)

Mechanical or Electrical Boost Gauge? Why?

Or do I just mount the boost gauge under back of the hood opening and forget the pillar pod?

Suggestions????

Thanks Guys

If you want to keep it simple and cheap, then go with the mechanical boost gauge. The other hole is for........ a electrical fuel gauge which is a good idea on a boosted car.

John,

Have you given any thought to digital gauges? I have them for boost and fuel pressure. You can actually read them at full throttle.

Thanks,

Great Idea. I Just ordered the Cyberdyne UltraGage Blue Ice Boost and Fuel Pressure gauges.

The Boost/vacuum is pretty cool as it reads steady in vacuum and Flashing in Boost.

I like that they are both electric that will make a neater install.

These are the same ones I have. They look very clean and you can read them at WOT.

Hmmm Just might change mine out. Looks like they are cheaper than the cobalts. Looks like they even have a memory feature also Only problem is the Cobalts are so much prettier.

I recently installed Cyberdyne "Blue Ice" fuel pressure and boost gauges. Both of my gauges came with senders and I opted for the versions with memory recall (hi/low), which is the function of the small buttons you see in the pillar.

I have to say that I'm not that comfortable having the gauges so close to my hands on the steering wheel and am thinking about possibly moving them (to the ashtray?).

Chimazo,

Have you ever actually had the gauges interfere with your steering? If you move them to the ashtray, how can you read them when you need them the most, at full throttle? Leave them where they are, unless your hands are as big as a gorilla’s.

So far, the only time they interfered with my steering was when I was backing up (doing the one hand polishing the wheel motion). I do have large hands.
When I am even more than half throttle, I am not looking at the gauges, just looking forward. That was the main reason behind getting the hi/low recall function - so I could see what was going on AFTER I was done zooming around. It also is a little ricey for me. At night it looks like I am in a disco. I'll have to think on it some more. I am lazy so the gauges have a good chance of not going anywhere.

Had the problem originally with the cobalt guages. I was always rubbing my hand against them and i have small hands. Just like anything else with a little time and practice you will learn to position your left hand differently and not hit them anymore

I drive with NO hands so it's NO problem.

You could always tilt the steering wheel down a little

I tried - not enough room for my legs (I run between 260-270lbs). Like I said, I'm lazy and it was a drag messing with the a-pillar, so it will stay at least until the winter!

One thing i have noticed is when you are going into boost who really has the time to look at the guages Does keep those pesty mustangs and ricers from bothering you though Just wish the Cobalts had that memory feature like yours.
