Default Fuel Consumption Increase with boost?

I am looking to keep factory driveability and fuel economy. Is there a dramtic decrease in mpg with a blower or tt kit? I know my 03 svt cobra gets terrible mpg (like 10mpg in town without being hard on it). I am more leaning towards a tt kit (most likey turbo tech or aps) but would i be in the same boat as a supercharger? Thanks. Which way should i lean if this is a concern of mine?

I actually get pretty good mileage. I get about 19ish around town and about 28MPG on the freeway. The gearing and aerodynamics of these cars along with the light weight helps a lot. People never believe me when I tell them what I get gas mileage wise.
Now if I get on it constantly...that's a different story.
Your tune plays a big part in it as well.

I'm running a stock bottom end 346 (LS6) with headers and a P1SC blowing 7.5 lbs of boost.
I'm constantly playing with the tune (timing, volumetric efficiency, ect.) just to eak out the best drivability, performance and MPG.

I would imagine the turbo guys will chime in with slightly better MPG.

When I was using my 00 Procharged D1SC as a daily driver I was getting on average about 13mpg in mostly well behaved city driving. Although on the highway for a cruise it would jump to 25mpg. Still pretty good considering 500+ rwhp. However, if you drive it a bit more spirited, which I tend to do now that I don't drive mine every day, I suspect the mpg is somewhat less. But honestly I don't even check it any more. The fun factor far out weighs the cost of gas, and I'm not putting on that may miles anyways. IMO if your concerned about gas mileage, or the economy of usage, supercharging is probably not the way to go. It's way to tempting to get the rush of FI, and besides it becomes a pit to keep throwing $$ for HP. And if your like me the next expense is that of buying a daily driver, and keeping the vette for special occasions. BEWARE - FI IS AN ADICTION. You're never quite satisfied. On the forum your exposed to way too many ideas and guys with deep pockets. And the cost of incrementally more HP gets ever more expensive the more you have. Good luck with your decision.

My car gets about 18 around town unless I'm driving very heavy footed. Even then I still get 15. With the cruise locked at 78 I get 24-25 mpg. I'm at 600rwhp.

This 740 rwhp C5 still get excellent gas mileage, it has not gone down at all at part throttle driving. Bob

I believe a turbo will give better fuel milage since it's not driving a compressor. If you stck with higher (10:1 to 10.5:1) compression and low boost, you will also get better fuel milage.

Just a little heads up on indicated mileage with FI motors: since serious boost levels always demand larger injectors, the mileage shown on the DIC will be incorrect. DIC mileage is a function of injector duty cycle and the assumed use of stock injectors. Going to the larger units (mine are 72 lb/hr) will cause the DIC mileage to be very optimistic. As an example, at my last fill-up, my average DIC mileage was 17.4 mpg (combined local and interstate driving). Based on the gas I purchased, my real number was 13.1. Big power doesn't come cheap.

I'm getting great mileage around town on my ProCharger!

It all comes down to the tuning, but the TT and SuperChargers don't have B@@ST down low they bleed off.

I'm getting about 15+ around town and 26.8 MPG on he HWY!

Thanks,Matt

With a six speed my ProCharged and TT'd Vette averaged around 20 mpg with the capability of nearly 30 on the high way .. With the auto and turbos its more like 15 ..

If I can keep my foot out of it, I'll see 24-25 mpg.
