Default Stock engine + boost

How much HP can a stock LS1 engine handle? I plan on turboing my car within the next two months and want to start planning accordingly. I hear that between 450-500 RWHP with a stock bottom end is safe if the car isn't beat to **** everyday or put on a track all the time. This is my DD and I really don't take it to the track too often. But I am naturally a Mustang guy and sold it bought my first Corvette (which I should have done a long time ago!). Any insight would be great. Thanks!

550 is a good safe number for it to last. dont go much higher or it will be on the edge.

I have been running 11 lbs with meth all season! Finally pushed the boost up to 13 and she still held! ( I am not planning on it holding much longer!!) you can safely get 550. with the right tune...and tuner!!
Still stock LS1 and stock LS1 heads, I do have the ECS blower cam and valve springs. Still stock pushrods. I am way over the edge!!!!!

I've ran 530rwhp for a few years without any issue. I have been at 595rwhp for about 6 months with no issues. Each engine is unique. A lot will depend on the tune and fuel pressure staying where it needs to be.

Alot of I am wondering if it will hold up or not ,or how long its gonna hold up ,Has to do with how long u hold it @ That level of hp , u can put the car on the dyno & Make 600 rwhp,& if u never rip on it @ all ,it should hold up,So whats the point in having Fi if u cant rip on it when u want ,But to be @ a safe level ,chris @ Ecs told me 525 to 550 on a safe tune ,U will also need to run a bap & an fuel system that can handle the newfound power

is that the only mods are the valve springs and cam? what about the head gasket and bolts? How much boost can you run on the stock valve springs?

I have 591 RWHP on my stock bottom end 1998 block LS1.

I'm running 7.6PSI of B@@ST and 10.9:1 Compression! So you will be safe and having some fun real soon!

It's good to invest in a METHONAL kit for safety puposes as well as a boost in HP!

Thanks,Matt

Well it is awesome to hear what these engines can handle! I am aiming for 500 but I would definately take anything over 450. A couple more questions...

1. Besides a fuel pump (I was thinking a Walbro 255 lph) and bigger injectors (I don't know what size though possibly 42#??), what other fuel systems mods will I need? If any??

2. FSUforever - What do you mean by a BAP?? That is something similiar to a Mass Air Flow correct??

3. I was going to get an LS6 manifold, custom grind F/I cam, Diablo tuner, P&P Throttle body, ported MAF, intercooler, MSD ignition, and LT headers. This will be a rear mounted turbo (I don't know if I'm going single or TT). With everything above plus any sort of fuel upgrades and obviously the turbo kit does that sound okay???

Look up msd 2350 or kennebelle bap ,Shoots voltage to your stock pump or intank pump when the bap sees Manifold pressure ,i would run no stock springs on any amount of boost ,if u are gonna add a cam shaft get some aftermarket springs
