Default LS7 - 427 vs LSX - 427 for C5 build

Hey HP Dudes,

Are there any preferences between the LS7 427 vs the LSX 427 for a Super Charged 800 to 900 rwhp C5 build?

LSX by far for the 6 bolts/cylinder! That way when you get bored of 900rwhp, you can put a bigger head unit on it and more boost and the sky is the limit!

Default World Products Warhawk

The difference is for that hp level in a vette you should get a World Products Warhawk block instead. The LSX block is cast iron, even if you don't road race the last thing I want for weight transfer drag racing is another 75lbs sitting right at my front tires. The Warhawk can take 6 bolt heads also. Warhawk = aluminum, LS7 = aluminum, LSX = cast iron.

Maybe if you had a camaro or some old car that had fubar weight distribution to start with or where pushing the 2500hp limit the LSX is good for, but with but intercoolers or a blower already adding to front end weight why make it worse when you don't have to.

Plus I do belive the Warhawk goes to 481 cid. A stock LS7 wont, C5R either. No replacement for displacement. The extra cubes shouldn't cost you that much more since you probably are putting all aftermarket parts in there already anyway and a 4 inch stroke crank and a 4.25 cost the same.

LSx is strong but the sleeve (bore) length is not lengthy enough to properly support large strokes....go with the World Products block and you get the LSx strength (enough to support your power) and the piston skirts won't be hanging out the bottom of the bore.

I was contemplating a 481ci Tall Deck Warhawk myself, but you have to remember, the tall deck will require custom headers and likley a custom intake. The extra height of the deck will throw off many of the default locations of your bolt on items, so it's going to be an exersize in patience and require some custom fabing.

Blower motors don't like "big strokes"-"big bores" yes! I'll post some pics's of Psycho Z's engine when Dave starts putting it together. Shooting for 1100+ with a F1R.
