Ok so here is the deal...Since I installed the oil breather cap when I did my supercharger install I have had no oil blow-by through the hose with the yellow arrow pointed to it. I was wondering if I were to cap off thatend and not have the hose running down to the air filter would that be a problem?
I did exactly that on mine about a month ago. Since I capped off the line I can smell oil while driving. Apparently, the line to the filter (yellow arrow) helps to pull vacuum on the crankcase. Nice setup.
I removed mine and don't smell a thing. As long as you have a normally functioning PVC system still in place, fumes should only come out the breather during 0 vacuum or under boost.
Mine's a 2000 though. Do you have the conventional PCV valve, or the one with just an orifice?
It's easy enough to pull the hose off the valve cover, plug the hose and the valve cover fitting, and try it out. Let us know......
I drove mine with that line disconnected when I was running the ECS breather for a long time with no issues. I then switched over to my current breather setup due to oil vapors coming out of the ECS breather and making mess.
