What size wheels and tires are working well for you with std minitub LPE rear of C5 vette with 700+RWHP. Wilwood rotors and big calipers. Would like one set for street even if still R compound. Thinking 13 inch rears either 17 or 18. 9.5/10 fine for front. I don't road race but I want to stay on the road under reasonably hard throttle. I'm thinking of going with some forged thin spokes and having them widened. I am afraid a little of their durability esp with a 13 inch rear. Do I need a 'stronger' forged wheel? I'm not certain the thin spokes can be used with larger calipers either. I'd like to keep the tires inside the wheel weld.
Also what are you guys doing to protect your paint other than keeping the rubber in the wheel welds?
I've read a lot of past posts. I'm still not certain what to run though.
I'm posting this in the FI section because I'd like to know what you guys think and really run.
You are looking for the same tire I am. Problem, it doesn’t exist in my opinion. I only have 550rwhp and with anything but my MT ET Streets (bias-ply) I am all over the place. In the warmer months, I use Nitto drag radials on the street to get some traction. But even with these, hard driving is a .

Good luck in your search,
Clayton from Las Vegas
Clayton you are 100% right. Those of us fortunate to have cars like this...fortunate to have the privilege of inheriting a great built car so I'm bragging about the builders not me....understand the limited traction you get with HP this high in a C5.
The answer is obviously more than a tire or wheel. Much of it is driving experience. There is much more to it as I've seen C5s launch like a bullet. I need my transbrake fixed and go over the stutter box but I've got to get a little bit of traction. I'm not going to detune the car, sell it or give up.
But in the end I know I will still have limited traction no matter what. But I keep telling myself it is the journey and not the destination that matters most.
