Default Quick Question about Meth and AIT Sensor

Hey guys

Just a thought...... Where is the AIT sensor located on a 2001 Z06. I know the wiring for it is connected to the MAF but where exactly is the sensor. Wondering mainly because i am spraying the methanol from a tapped in hole in my Throttle body and am wondering if it will be reading the AIT's correctly.

thanks lads

I think the IAT is in the MAF sensor. I'm running a SDtune but when I first installed my meth kit I took the brown and blue wires and ran it to my new IAT sensor. I bought my Procharger kit used so it had a IAT sensor in the intake plumbing. I hope this helps .

Your IAT is integral to your MAF as mentioned before... Also I would think you want nozzle(s) further upstream to get a better mix with charge air. Anyway just thinking out loud.

Yes if I read your post correctly... also mixing of spray (water/alky) is important because you want it mixed and undergoing phase change uniformly.

Skunkwork are you saying it is better to run a mix of meth/water vs. just meth?

1997-2001 IAT sensor is seperate from the MAF

2002-And Up IAT sensor is in the MAF

To confirm this, MAF sensors with 5 wires have the IAT incorporated into the MAF.

I guess maybe the 2001 Z06 is the odd ball because my 2001 Z06 has the 5 wire MAF.

Where is everyone mounting there air intake sensors? I just ordered an older style 2000 one with the gromet and am wondering exactly where you guys are tying them into the intake. I will just take the 2 wires from my maf and route them to the new sensor.

let me know !!

Cool Drew they are the purple and light brown tan colored wires. Also it does not matter the way you hook it up to the IAT sensor

Drew-you need to do this:

I make up a new inlet pipe and weld in a actual fitting instead of using the rubber gromet that comes with a IAT relocation kit. The sensor is from a GMC Syclone. I also upgrade all the hose to 4 ply silicone and the 90 degree silicone elbow actually has a steel 90 inside it. The MAF is relocated right after the Intercooler using a 4" 4ply "hump hose"-I also use a screened MAF for more accurate readings.

Well arn't you fancy Can you make me one of these? How much? I am getting anxious to come down for my tune I have a truck and trailer lined up and ready for the nice weather! I guess my only question would be ....how do I fill the whole in my Throttle Body now? I guess I would need to have is welded shut with some aluminum eh ?
