Default Busted Rocker Arm

Actually drove my C5 to work last week, as I was pulling into the garage, I turned down the radio and heard a prominent ticking up front. Lifted the hood and it was coming from the right bank. Drove about one mile to Excelsior Motorsports, and learned a rocker had just broke. All the needle bearings were still positioned on the head. It must of just happened just prior to getting to work. The car had not been driven hard, in sometime, but even then, it was not high rpm levels. Kushan is currently replacing the rocker. It looks as thought all the material was acounted for, but will change the oil before hitting the road.

Will do a rocker arm upgrade soon. Anyone having problems such as this with boosted engines. My rev limiter is set at 6200 rpm's, and the engine does not see this level that much. Seldon hit the rev limiter, and the rockers have about 7k on them.

Hey Benny,

Albeit not a chronic problem, it's the only issue with stock rockers.

Go to the Harland Sharp upgrade (full caged needles) or to any number of stout, after market pieces.

For non-adjustable rockers look at the Yella Terra and for adjustable look at the Crane Gold or any of the shaft mounts.

I haven't run any yet. The new version looks like a giant step forward from the originals.

The one's I mentioned I have run and exhibit no issues with valve train harmonics and have proven reliable in track and endurance testing.

I broke one of mine a while back......just had a friend who upgraded his give me on of his. My carnage ended up on the magnetic drain plug and everything was accounted for, every needle bearing. I was thinking about upgrading but didn't know what would be the best stock replacement.
