I'm on my 4th belt in 4 months . I've tried Gates and the goodyear gatorback belts. They seem to get glazed after just 2 to 5 WOT runs. After that it's start with a chirping sound and progressively gets worse. I have the latest Procharger P1 Stage II kit with 4.75 pulley which was purchased and installed by a reputable shop out here about 5 Months ago. The belt is aligned correctly no damage to the sides and there was good tension on each belt. For those of you who have fixed this problem what did you do? Try a different pulley like the one from reichard racing if so any pros and cons? Did you do an 8rib conversion if so how much for parts and labor? Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks - Dan

You could consider ECS heavy duty tensioner. I dont think you should have belt slip with a 4.75 pulley on a P1 and correct pulley alignment. Good luck to you...

how much clearance do you have from tensioner to supercharger pulley?
I had issues with my P1 chewing belts until I repl both idler pulleys. Even after 4 mos they have already worn the black off the pulleys. Next time I am going with the billet ones.

I had this exact problem, except D1 on AA custom setup. Everything was lined up but when there would be a major seasonal weather change, it would start screaming. Try dressing the backside of the belt with some ATF fluid. BTW, I checked and rechecked everything associated with the belt system, all good. The next size up was to long, the one I am on may be a bit to tight and the ATF from what I am told lets the belt stretch a hair, whether this is true or not, it solved a big issue that I would sometimes have. Take a rag and w/the car running, put some fluid on the rag and hold the rag against the SC pulley where the belt comes over it. DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK...I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE.... Make sure you have the whole rag in your hand only exposing the saturated portion to the pulley.
I have to give credit to Don (Slowhawk) on this one.

If the belts are getting glazed, then more than likely you are getting belt slippage. The first thing I would do is to try to install a belt that is one size smaller. It may be extremely difficult to install, and we usually have to roll it on, like you have to when a bicycle chain comes off out on the road on a fixed gear bike. The problem is that after some usage, a new belt stretches and this can create the slippage that causes the belt to become glazed. Bob
belt is to small...like Bob said, put a smaller one on.
I have to loosen up my bracket and take the top bolt out of the alternator to roll my on, then use a pry bar to put the alternator back. I have a 6 rib with a 4.00" pulley.
The belt will stretch after is gets hot the first time.

That is how we do it with my A&A Bracket setup that way you get the smallest belt on that you can
1st of all thank you everyone for replying. I will definetely try a smaller belt on this next round.
As for the belt alignment. Are you guys talking about a laser alignment tool from Home Depot or a specific tool for just belts? If it is a home depot laser alignment could someone here give me some basic instruction on how to use it? In other words where did you shoot the beam(from the edge of the pullies or the middle of the belt etc)?
