Default Sts Oil Return Proposal

I am not happy with my oil STS return to the oil fill cap . It looks like crap and it came off on me once and spit oil all over the engine. I know that for the C6 STS drills and taps both valve covers to return the oil.
I am think of doing one of the following, but want to get some feedback from the group.
1. Drill and tap only the right side valve cover for the return oil.
OR
2. Eliminating the oil level indicator in the oil pan and returning the oil directly to the oil pan. If I use this method, how do I prevent the warning system constantly screaming at me ?

Has anyone tried either of the above mods with any success?

Is there another way to do the oil return without drilling and tapping the oil pan ?

Drilling and tapping one side is the equiv to what you have now without the issues and sillyness.

There is another option I forgot about, and that is to use the dipstick. Similar to what ECS and A&A used to use. Its a modified dipstick tube near the bottom with a fitting welded to it for the return oil.

Why not put a "t" fitting at the oil level sensor?

On the APS kit the return line has a barbed fitting that is tapped right in the valve cover right below the oill filler. That would accomplish the same thing as it is now, while not having to deal with the cap anymore.

When I had mine, I tapped my passengers side valve cover and used a 1/4" NPT fitting with a quick connector for easy removal.

Thanks for the advice. I have tapped the passenger side valve cover with 1/4 NPT and run my return line to a 90deg NPT to hose fitting. Works great
