Default Methanol Question

I filled my washer tank with meth, and the vehicle will sit for a week or 2, I go to drive the vehicle and it tells me Low Washer Fluid. WTF what happen to the Meth in the tank? Does it evaporate, I don't see anything leaking in the garage. Also does the car only use the meth under full boost when the green light comes on? Just driving around town I might be on boost a few times and let the car sit just to have to fill the tank again. Oh and this is a ECS Methanol system.

meth will evaporate, just like gas, over time.

how much you spray and when you spray it depends on how your system is setup & installed.

I've got a single nozzle, with the controls set at 6.5 I would of thought it would last a few tank of gas. It must really evaporate fast?

You should check for leaks. It should not evaporate that quickly.

Either you have a bad level sensor or it's installed upside down.
The flat next to the grommet should be at the top.

You have a leak, check the around the grommet for the level sensor and the washer pump.
Meth will evaporate very quickly but will leave a trail on the frame rail.

I have let my car sit for months with little to no loss of meth, check for leaks. Once it leaks it will evaporate fast so you may not see any puddles from it.

I stored mine for the winter and when I took it out of storage (2.5 months later), there was still meth in it.

Make sure your sensor is turned right side up!

There is a groove cut out of it and it will be facing upwards

I had mine upside down at one time so it's worth the check see

If you Meth has a small leak it will evaporate perhaps before you can detect it.

Fill it and look all around the pump amd fittings with a good light and check for seepage

The Meth "ONLY" comes on under B@@ST and should not squirt while you are doing regular driving if it did you would be running pretty rich and the motor would stumble

Thanks,Matt

Thanks guys, I definitely have a leak some where. Does anyone have a hard time starting the car from time to time because of the Meth, almost like vapor lock, the car starts and run like it's on 6 cyl, I'll turn it off and restart it a few times and it seems to clear up. Very annoying

It almost sounds like the meth is siphoning into your intake and pooling up.....because you said your having problems with the car idling.

BTW this is just a guess.

A very good guess at that. Do you a check valve installed that is working?

Your right by Phil, have him check it out for you.

I have the “low washer fluid” every time I start my car. The tank is full of meth; I got a new sending unit and it not upside down. Is there a way to check this out without getting another sending unit? I know the new one could be bad also, but I don’t want to buy another if that is not the problem.

Thanks,

Clayton from Las Vegas
