Default How difficult is a Dry Nitrous setup (to install/use)

I have a basic understanding of how Nitrous works, but I've never actually installed or used one. A Dry kit seems to be more within my skill level than a wet system and i'd like to know how to install and use one.

Pretty simple. There's always tons of help here, and ls1tech. There's also a really good thread over there on "wet vs. dry". It isn't a question of "less trouble", but more of "what trouble" you want to do. Small shot (under 100hp) dry system is very simple, no tune or injectors needed. After that, dry systems require larger injectors and tune. Wet isn't really much more difficult to set up, but then you can tune with the swap of jets.

Dry 100hp and under is pretty much not a problem on a stock or slightly modded car. Biggest thing to watch is fuel pressure and timing/knock when first trying it out to verify conditions are good.

What's required as far as electronics go?

I probably won't be going over 100 shot. I have a stock engine with 115K on it. I"d prefer not to blow up.

reccomendations on dry kit brands/models?

There are a lot of choices you just need to read up on Tech and see what you want. I did a lot of research before I picked out my system.

Wide Open Throttle switch, window switch are the bare basics. If you want add an air/fuel shutoff switch and a fuel pressure safety switch for an extra safety cushion.

That's somewhat of a good start, however, the dry technology has come so far in the last year and isn't covered at all. Street/strip Direct Port Dry with the stock computer and run what ever size hit ya want. The safest best distributing way to it these days, or a new style Dry Plate kit is also top notch. What ever style dry you use the new fueling controller would be a no brainier, for even the wet hits, and is a breeze to use and set-up. Even a cheap nozzle kit and the fueler is a great way to go. Injector up sizing is really not that big of a deal if we really think about it, if doing any bolt ons it will be time any way to up size. My thinking is, if adding injectors is needed, the safety factor that only the dry can provide is worth the extra cost should we save an engine one time. Mucho dry stuff on my personal web site. If you want a link just E-Mail me. There is a lot more info on the dry side of things, if your interested just ask away. My new home base for the n2o stuff is now the NitrousForum.com, no longer doing much at tech.

That's very true. I've forgotten how many gadgets they've come out with in the last year (for dry set-ups). All the ways we 'made' it work (correctly) are now just a 'dial in' and go.
Glad to see you're still around Robert. Most of us would still be lost in the nitrous woods without your help. Even though I've jumped ships, I still dig the n2o sections of the forums.
