Default Boosted Stroker Motor

Guys I was just wondering what vendor you all are buying your stroker motors from? I have a Kenny Bell 2.8 that is supose to be here tomorrow, with ET Perfromance 255 heads. What kind of short block should I run? 4 inch stroke or bigger ina LS2 or LS3? Let me know what you guys think.

You went with some pretty good size heads that will probably kill your low throttle response if you don't go with a larger CID motor.

I'm not sure what kind of numbers that you want to put out and what kind of boost you'll be running.

Lots of guys use Canadian Performance, LME, Etc ...

You should give Jeff (American HP) a PM and ask him for suggestions as he's the guru around here on the KB set-ups.

I just hope your drive train can take the shock of the KB torque.

I wouldn't run more than a 4" stroke. I doubt that's even necessary with all that KB torque.

Jeff uses LME in Houston.
I had my iron 403 built by Erik Koenig at HKE. Erik taught at SAM which is the school that the guys at LME went to.

More than a 4" stroke and the pin is too high in the piston. Not good for F/I.

i kind of thought that might be an issue but when your buying a stroker crank the price is the same for 4 inch and bigger.

but it's easier with more cubes. You can get a LS3 block with a 4" crank and have a nice displacement! LS3 block isn't much more than the LS2. The rest of your goal will be achieved with supporting mods. i.e. tranny and rear end from hell, fuel system etc.

Yep, look at my build and you'll see a pic of my pistons for my 4" stroker setup. The bottom of the oil ring has no piston material where the pin is. Now imagine another .1 inches interference.

I agree... no larger than a 4 inch crank, or you will have problems. I am pretty sure that he wouldnt have to worry about the larger intake runners killing his bottom end on a kb 2.8h setup though.

Feel free to give us a call to discuss the options. We have an in house machine shop and can custom build the engine to your needs.

I agree, I wouldnt go longer than a 4" stroke. Its not worth the effort, and wont gain you any more with your KB.

With your setup, its about controlling what you've got down low. So a huge stroker motor isnt necessary.. That being said, you've got the 2.8, so you also dont want to go stock cubes..

I try to reccomend guys with big KB's to build their car for power from 4000rpm's and up. Cause no matter what you do, the KB will make the power down low.

If I were you, I would run a LS2 403cid, or LS3 418. Then cam your car for 3500-7000rpms. That would be the perfect setup.

You know who to call for your motor..

Yep these are the guys to go to. I went LME myself for a 300 shot. Jeff can certainly set you up with a deal, that will work, from being there and doing that, not just talk like some whom imply they have done it. Not **** talking about anyone at all (certainly no implication to anyone in this thread), just know where and what he has done with the KB before anyone else.
