Po343 usually means the cam bolts backed out.

Don't start or drive the car. Pull the front cover where timing chain is and check your bolts, hopefully motor is not fried.

Also check for valve damage.

Welcome to the club...

Note that P0343 is not necessarily related to backed off camshaft bolts but something else hardware-related. But in my case it was bolts and I did broke a lifter and one of the lobes because of missing pin ended into wrong place...

http://forums.corvetteforum.com/show...ighlight=p0343

And yes, my car was running fine with just 7 cylinders.

Pretty much, looks like you'll have to tear down the motor and inspect it for other damage, such as cam, valve, piston, etc.

The PO343 code is typically the kiss of death.

My car recently broke the idler pulley and threw the P0343 code all on the same day. Pretty ironic. The timing cover comes off tonight, so I'll let you know what I find.

Good luck with the fix and I had a stock rocker start coming apart and with my frequent oil changes at 2k my mechanic found needle bearings in the oil about 3 oil changes ago and I had no codes so I was real lucky it did not break like yours

Oh are those the latest bearings from ECS, I think I will need those when I put on my 8 rib setup

Odd that you got a P0343 with just a rocker, smart choice to pull the cover and check. Good luck with it.

PeterPan, those are our latest idlers.
