My ECS Tune Thread
First off I want to say thanks again to Doug for coming in on a Saturday
The work he does is incredible, as well as the little extras that he does that a lot of other shops don't do.Well here are the numbers. Previously on my old 3.8 pulley I saw 6.5 7lbs of boost and the car made 504 rwhp. I added the 3.6 pulley and expected to see 10lbs of boost today, but with it being so damn hot out we only saw 8 lbs. So needless to say the car didn't make 10lb numbers, BUUUUUTTTTTT.
On 8lbs of Boost the car made 547 RWHP
So when the weather gets a hair cooler and I see 9-10 lbs of boost the car will easily make 580 rwhp, which is what I was hoping for on the HIGH END. My car has always Dyno'd like crap and I finally felt like it did OK. With 8lbs of boost on a 2001 Z06 with a little S Trim in this weather I was pretty damn happy!***** Just so everyone knows. I was running HEET in the alky tank for the first two pulls of the day and the car was getting knock and pulling timing. After scratching our heads for 10 minutes, Doug suggested that I dump the HEET and put in some Pure Meth.
The Knock went away and the car picked up 45RWHP from the previous dyno
so if your running HEET I would get rid of it and try and find the real dealI have all the pic's in order of the day so enjoy and check out the youtube video as soon as I put the link up!
Thanks,
Andy Wheeler

I have never seen a dyno like that, how does it compare against a DynoJet or Mustang Dyno? Does it take into account that you shed your wheels?
I'm getting that crap HEET out of my car too.
If you lost 47 rwhp on 8lbs, imagine what I'm losing on 14-15lbs
Of course I would be putting out about 12lbs in the heat yesterday
John I am going to make some calls today on Sunday and see if I can find anyone that sells meth, and is open today LOL.
Andy
I'd be scared to drive it with those wheels on it though!
It looks like it turned out to be a Very Nice trip for you! I wish that ECS was closer because from the looks of it, they've got a Really Nice shop and of course their work speaks for itself!
The Dynapak dyno is one of the best dynomometers available because it's hooked straight up to the hub and there is Zero chance of spinning the tires and you can also load it up like a Mustang (except no tire slippage). There are probably other benefits too, but those two come to the top of my head off the bat. Maybe Doug or someone Much more knowledgeable than me will pop in and give a better answer.
Thanks for the pictures Andy!
John Bourg, at the risk of sounding weird, you've got some Killer Calves!
I used to enjoy Powerlifting and you remind me of an old training partner that had some Cows too!

Doug didn't want to touch them when setting it up for the dyno LOL. He said your taking those off. I gladly did
Thanks for the compliments! I appreciate it!
johnny Bravo John Bourg used to be a body builder, he was telling us about his lifting days on the way home

Flatout, Nice numbers! I wish I had enough luck to get out and tune my wagon. I will one day soon enough I'm sure.
You guys are too funny, Yes I was a BB for 15 years. Got up to 267lbs @ 8% Bodyfat before I got injured, and gave it up.Now I'm just 245 and fat, but I'm trying to drop down to 225 lean. I'm 40 now, so health is more important than trying to look good all the time.
"What we found, from our two-wheel-drive tests, is that the Dynapack and Dynojet give surprisingly similar readings. If you compare a 7-second pull on the Dynapack with a third-gear pull on the Dynojet (which happens to take 9 seconds), the charts agree to within about 2 hp. The same is true when comparing a 15-second pull on the Dynapack with a fourth-gear pull on the Dynojet (fourth gear, in this case, takes about 17 seconds). The agreement between dynos was similar on both cars."
On either dyno, Wheeler would be nervous as **** that his car would blow up (I know I was!).
Ask Doug and the gang about that!
The first time I saw the dyno's was the video! I hate dyno's LOL
