Default ECS meth question

Noob question-what should happen when you press the test button?

Thanks

It should stumble, because it is getting a shot of Meth and it gets too fat (Rich) and it makes it stumble.

It will clear as soon as you let go. Not enough air volume to fuel ratio and the Meth shot is after the MAF (Unless SD tuned) so it can't even try to compensate

Thanks,Matt

Should it be green with the test button? My light turns red when I hit test, but is green when I go into boost. Maybe mine is just wired a little differently, who knows.

Is it 'safe' to test the system with the engine off for a split second, or should I do it while it's running and just listen/feel for it to stumble? I'm just fearful of the pump dying someday so I'd like to test it on a regular basis.

I looked in the instruction manual that Julio sent me and it just says that the LED should illuminate, but not a colo, so maybe neither of us is wrong. Maybe we just have different LEDs.

I just posted that because mine turns green.

The light turns green when it has approximately 30lbs of back pressure on the nozzle. It could turn it to green with the test button if the system is turned way up. If the gain is really low then it will not pump much with the test button.

hope that helps.

Well this is interesting. Does the ecs meth kit come with a light system, ijust bought a procharger, and my tuner is ordering me a ecs meth kit. I have a 2 pod guage kit, shows fuel and boost pressure, I was wondering about a meth indication light, it would be very cool if the kit came with one.

Yes it does

When you press "Test" it simulates the same amount of alky that is shot in when it reaches its turnon point. Meaning lets say you run 13 PSI boost, kit activates at 4 PSI. At 4 PSI it activates with low pressure. When you press "Test" it puts out the amount the kit would at 4 PSI boost. Now if the controls are setup in such a way that lets say 20 PSI of alky pressure is shot when the kit activates.. then you will only see a "RED" LED condition. As the boost comes up from 4 PSI.. 5, 6, 7, etc.. pump spins faster, makes more pressure.. and when it crosses 30-40PSI pressure.. LED changes to green.

Typically if you place the **** on "8" and hit test, it will send out enough voltage to go red-green.

What does this mean.. if you have a wideband guage on your pillar.. and your cruising along 13-14:1 air fuel.. and you press test.. the air fuel will drop. Once it does, system is primed and loaded. So any change in air fuel, the alky is spraying. The colors just let you know a specific pressure has been met and gives a positive feedback.

MPRTKLR, working as should.

Thanks Julio! I'll have to check mine out!

So should turn the gain down and hit the test button and see what happens? Have you always had the two colored LEDs because my kit is around 2 years old?

Leave the gain alone. Watch for change in the way the motor runs when you press the button. If no change, then readjusting the gain will be needed. If you need further clarification, feel free to call.

I would always have the engine running

Bad things can happen spraying meth without engine running, why chance it?
