Default 370 FI motor question

Talked to my friend today and was going over my options I think I am going to go with the 370 built motor option, anyone else have one and if so what type of numbers are you seeing?

I am going to be using my ECS Novi 2000, switching to a blower cam, and rework my current AFR 215 heads to 225's. This way I can use the crank I have and just go new block, rods and pistons, anyone else sporting this combo and how do you like it?

Thanks

Well since you are looking at the Iron block, why not spend a little more $ $ $ and get the 408! !

I went with the 408 and a D1SC, my car should be at the Dyno in the next few weeks! !

My buddy has a friend that has a couple 6 liter blocks new and he bought them up so I get one, thought about the 408 just looking to keep within my budget this time of around 3500$ lol I just want to see if I can start one project and keep the cost where I originally said.

I would be curious to see what you lay down with that 408 and D1SC combo I bet it is going to be wicked. I will follow your progress I looked at the 370, 383, 402 and am leaning towards the 370, I will be spraying on top of the blower 75 shot as well, so what made you go with the 408?

Why do you want to go iron block? What are your goals?

Looking to be able to be over 800RWHP on SC/N20 set-up, not really wanting to use meth and I want to be able to run the car on the street not just a track queen.

As you know, I have the 403 iron block and you know my #'s. I would almost rather see you wait if you had to and put the stroker motor together. Charge it! It's the American way!!

Your goals are quite achievable with the 370 though.

That can be done without the iron block and will save you a decent amount of weight off the front end A track queen? That is the first time I heard that one

The block for the 370 is not an iron block I found that out today, so I think I am going to go that route. I have searched here and Ls1 tech and have found no real cons to a 370 build for FI purposes.

I think you are making a great decision. It would perhaps be the ideal setup. Look on ls1tech...there is a guy with a destroked C5R block in his fbody 370cid...and it is a beast!

If I did a rebuild with a new block it would be an an all bore stock stroke 4.00" bore 3.622 to achieve between to get in the neighborhood of 370cid. There are guys on here that can't beat their 1/4 mile records with a larger displacement and the same power adder, simply because of traction and breaking more parts.

I believe aslo there is less heat issues with a smaller bore versus the big bores 400+ cids, and like it matters but I still get 20 mpg average with short outburst and around 24mpg cruising on the freeway.

Just some things to consider but overall I think you are making a great choice...you don't need large cid's with TT or S/Cs.

Thanks for the input I am going to go the 370 or 408 iron block for cost purposes. I am leaning more torward the 370 right now and relocate the battery to the trunk area.

Thanks for the thumbs up

how about a good ol ls3 with the right crank rods & pistons?

I've got a TTiX and thinking of bumping up the displacement just a tad down the road but I don't want to shell out for a warhawk or c5r block and don't want the weight either!

Not sure about the ls3 but I can get the 6l block for 458$ add top quality rods and pistons keep my stock crank and boost/n20 the motor to the moon to make up for the extra weight. LOL I can justify adding a crank but not sure I want to. I was thinking of adding the tiger shark front with money saved. I don't know other then torque the 370 is hard to beat vs 408 I am doing a lot of reading. I can't seem to find anything on handling though does the iron block mess that up?
