Default 317 Head help.

I am currently running a about 10psi with 2.6L Kenne Bell on my stock 2002 LS6 engine. I'm looking to pick up some 72cc 317 LQ9 heads from another forum member in the next few days. The heads have the upgraded 2.08 and 1.6 valves on them and some dual .650" lift springs. I do not know if the bigger valves are going to be to big for my 346ci. Im looking to lower the CR and probably stick some sort of blower cam in at the same time. Any suggestions would be great.

Also what about some ARP head studs. Yes / No?

thanks,
B

I have been happy with mine for the cost.Yes,ARP studs, dont bother with the GM stuff.I have seen 18 psi a couple times, everyone says they lift around 20 but when I get my tune done we will see. For the cost, you cant go wrong, next step would be Darts .

the 2.08 and 1.6 valves fit the stock bore.. Most use 2.02 or 2.04 and 1.57 if you go with a blower cam, just make sure your piston to valve clearance is ok with the larger valves. You may have to flycut your pistons for extra clearance

Lets hope they will not hit. I dont want to tear the bottom of the engine down and replace or flycut pistons.
What is the part of the cam that will determine if the pistons will clear? I was thinking about a cam in the low 230s / mid 230's with no more than .600" on a 112 -114 lsa. I want something nasty.

Duration, ICL, and LSA will determine PTV clearance. And you don't have to tear the bottom end down to flycut. You can do it with your heads off.
