Well went over to Arnolds today and the 383 is finally out....it will be replaced by an Iron Block 408. Well as many of you know, the car was not running right and Arnold did a leak down test and #7 showed to be the one that was causing the problem, well after pulling motor out today, we didn't see any visual damage. Arnold did notice that all the pistons had piston slap, they were pretty loose! ! Here is some pictures of the 383 and Heads! !
Just curious what brand head gasket where you running. I ran some gaskets similiar in appearance to those and ended up pushing water with them. Since then went to MLS and have had no problems pushing water. Did you ever push water with those head gaskets?

You know, ever since this Motor was installed, I had lots of blow-by.....The engine was put together by Kotzer Racing Engines. And as far as the water, before the motor was acting up, I had to put about a Gallon of Water every week! !
I noticed that the back 2 cylinders have a different color to them on one of the heads. I guess that might have been due to your water leak. Glad to see you're on your way to getting your new engine in. It's been a long time.
Oh and just in case you haven't installed an iron block, don't be surprised when you have to cut in to the motor mount bracket a little to get around the boss that's cast in the block.

But could this be from a front loading intake manifold?
