Default Turbo Technology X kit?

When I went to pickup my car off the forum I rode in a similar vette that has Turbo Technologies X-Lite twin turbo setup installed.

Ever since I have been obsessed with that setup. I'm thinking of getting one but have numerous questions. I'd like to ask a few questions of somebody that has experience with that kit.

Here's a couple questions I have off the top of my head.

1. What exactly is the difference between the X-Lite and Retail kits?
2. Is the car even drivable w/o tuning?
2.b What does it take to tune?
2.c Are there tuners for the LS1 out there that don't lock or take tokens? I looked at a bunch of them but none were open for a reasonible price. Tunercat rocked for my LT1 however, I don't know there's a version for the LS1.

Thanks!

Lite usually comes without fuel injectors and tuning software. I always recommend "lite" versions of kits.

Probably not and you don't want to without some sort of base tune.

A wide band and eventually a dyno.

I recommend HP tuners as it's the bomb. You can purchase the commercial version but why?

I found a decent deal on a used X-Retail kit. The guy says it's the same as the Lite just has heat tempered pipes and ball bearing turbos.

It doesn't include any stuff to bump up the fuel or programming.

What I want to do is just have a streight TT setup w/ programming. At this time I don't want to mess with the fuel system.

He's offering about 30% off the new kit price but says it's missing oil lines.

Has anybody programmed on of these on their own?

The difference between the Lite kit and the X kit are ball bearing turbochargers; that's it. You can upgrade to a bigger pair of turbochargers if you plan on running a motor that is bigger then 400". You can also upgrade the intercooler endtanks which allows for more air flow.

The car is not going to be drivable without tuning and I wouldn't recommend it either. Depending on who you are having tune the vehicle, you might be able to get a base map to at least get you to the dyno.

The tuning side of it is easy... Make sure you have a license to HP Tuners (or something equivalent; personally I wouldn't use anything else as I'm sure the rest of the board would agree) a laptop, eventually a dyno with a wideband O2 sensor. If you have tuned LT1 cars then you should be pretty familiar with what needs to be done... if not, then I would take it to a well known shop that knows what they are doing.
