engine hesitating

Sometimes when I go for a drive and park for awhile and go to pull away the engine seems to hesitate, almost like it wants to shut off.
Car is a 99 vert with aps twin turbos,6 speed,also the car has a strong gas smell,but it has always smelled like this ,this could be because there are no cats on car.
Any help on the hesitating would be appreciated.

i had my 02 sensor go bad a while back and it was doing the same thing.. hook up hptuners and see if one of the banks is running rich..
