Default Strange Technical Question

Hey guys, Im pretty sure that my drivers side motor mount is shot and im going to have to replace it this week. My friend changed his on his heads and cam 99 and he said it wasnt that hard. I have TTi twin turbo set up and i believe their position will compromise my access to the mount. Has anybody had to change a motor mount with this twin turbo set up? Thanks

I highly doubt its a motor mount. Its EXTREMELY rare, in fact I have only ever heard of 1 replace and that was from an issue on an NA road-race car.

More than likely the turbo hardware or exhaust has come in contact with something.

What are the symptoms that leads you to think its a mount?

Phil

I had a small clearance issue where my turbo was vibrating up against my front right side of the subframe under load and making light clunking noise. My subframe had to be filed down a bit more and no problems since. Good luck!

Yeah I skipped that step on my install and regretted it. Had to go back and clean up the pass side frame rail, and then it's good.

The symptoms are a rumble/grinding/clunking at idle and low rpms but not at anything over 2k. I can feel it in the pedals and the floor pan when im sitting still and cruising slowly. I had my friend rock the motor back and forth with this hands while i sat in the car and it made the sound worse. It definately happens when the motor rocks back and forth so i assumed it was the mount. It just started doing this a few weeks ago and TTi kit has been on it for a while.

Check the pass turbo to see if its contacting the engine cradle. Often its not checked on the initial install and shows up later. PM me for more info.
