Default Confused??????

As many posts as I have read and as much research I have done on which rear end to mate with my TTi x kit I am now totally confused. I found that the 3:42 gear ratio will cause me to loose power(currently have 2:73 on an auto) due to a lower top end. Dont care to much about top end, but how quick I get to top speed what ever that is. I want my car QUICK. Should I stay with 2:73 gear ratio or change to a 3:42?

3.42 gear will get you to speed quicker.

I think that the 3.42 ratio with an auto would be a killer combo. Much snappier. Believe me a lack of power will be the least of your worries. Now traction-that's another issue.

3:42s are the gear of choice for most boosted cars. Don't forget a tranny brace and at least a driver's side hardened output shaft while you're at it.

Yeah the car will be alot quicker with 3.42. If you haven't already, consider a good performance stall converter it will make a huge difference. Stall and gears could drop 1 sec off your 1/4 mile.

I have done several 2.73 and 3.15 swaps to a 3.42 and it is hands down the best thing I have done to any of these cars. It really brings some life to the car is all areas of driving.

Yet another "While I'm in there I might as well..."
Patches wrote a good writeup when he did these mods to his wife's car.
