This may be a stupid question, but what is the best way to find out what boost my maggie is putting out. Is that somthing that is as easy as reading the boost gauge @ WOT or is it somthing a shop / tuner checks during dyno / tuning.
I want to find out as a way to help me deside what upgrades to do. The paperwork from cartek only says they "machined down" the pulley and the prev ower thought almost 10lbs, but if it is say more like 7 I would prob do a crank pulley to boost that up a little.
Some tuners can log your boost throughout your RPM range.
Watching your boost gauge at WOT works but can get a little hairy when on the street. I upgraded my gauge to a SPA gauge with memory and now with the touch of a button I can see what my maximum boost was. You hit maximum boost for a relatively short period of time and on my Autometer gauge I would see 7lbs, now with the SPA gauge while parked in my driveway I can see it was actually 7.6lbs.
I use a PLX SM-Vac Boost to monitor my boost, and their DM-200 to display it. The DM-200 has a peak hold display. I never knew until receltly, that my ProCharger can put out 11.0# untl I tested it like this!
