Default compression ratio

question on checking compression ratio of my engine. Can you check it with a compression tester and convert pressure to compression? The short block that was put in my C5 was rated 9.0 compression, but I assume that could change with built / changed heads depending what was put on it? Or are most LS1 compression chambers the same size? Just thought it would be a good idea to have all the right #'s when I go to tune!

Not really a way to test compression w/ the heads on the car.

You will need to know a few things to check your c/r,
Head chamber cc
h/g thickness
Bore size
Stroke
Piston releif or dish cc
and how far out of the hole the pistons protrude.

Try this calculator http://www.c5frc.com/calculators/Com...Calculator.htm
Remember to decrease the amount out of the hole the pistons protrude from the actual gasket thickness. ie if you are out of the hole .007 and you are using .050 gaskets then you would input .043 as your gasket thickness.

Hope this helps

You won't need to know for your tune. Your tuner can find the right spot.
