Default Finally! Higher boost levels with reliability from your current SC Setup.

Finally! Higher boost levels with reliability from your current SC Setup.

We at Cartek are happy to present the "Flip Drive", a new Patent Pending product from Hormilla Perf. Eng..

It separates your belt drive system for your supercharger from your accessories' belt drive system. This allows for more belt wrap on the crankshaft(higher boost level possibilities) and eliminates the tension in the belt generated from the supercharger from damaging your accessories. Best of all it more than likely works with your current SC setup on your LSX based Corvette.

You can get more details on the system at the link below:

http://www.cartekracing.com/Products...EFlipDrive.htm

Feel free to contact us with any questions.

Thanks,
Max

Interesting concept. How has it performed so far? What is the fixed idler underneath the new machined idler for? It appears that the supercharger belt drives the water pump, so you could still see premature failure on this part. Also I would assume that you would still need an adjustable idler for tensioning the supercharger pulley. Can this be done with a fixed adjustable idler or do you need a spring loaded one? I will keep my eye on this once some more tseting has come back.

That is pretty trick there Max..... I love the concept. Maybe that combined with ECS's new 10 rib setup would make the ultimate street setup with NO belt slip at all.

So far in the testing we did for Hormilla P-Eng. we have seen 750RWHP through a 4L80 Transmission(more like 850+RWHP with a stick) with zero belt slip. That car has gone deep 9s in the quarter a couple dozen times. The car has had the same belt for 8+ months and a few thousand street miles in testing with zero belt issues till this day and looks like it will last a very long time. Not only has the car run 9s, but it had a round trip of 300+ miles on those days. I guess you can say that testing has been done and it has worked flawlessly.

We have some dyno graphs from testing where we plotted boost graphs of hot back to back pulls and saw virtually no fluctuation in manifold pressure. I'll post these up later once I scan them.

As for the water pump... because of the reduced deflection of the belt (How in line the water pump pulley is with the belt path) done by the water pump in this design the amount of side loading done by the belt under tension on the water pump is greatly reduced. Basically, the water pump is relieved greatly of it's task to keep the belt in line since it displaces the belt less. (Think of physics class when you did equations on force vectors)

As far as a tensioner, you use what ever came with your Procharger, ECS, A&A kit, etc. That portion remains the same, the tensioning is still done the same way on that side of the block. That is one of the many great things about this kit, that it works with just about everything else. Not only that, but you keep all your accessories in there stock location, so the install is simple and easily reversible.

Thanks, you actually don't need the new ECS upgrade kit. This does everything that does without having to loose power steering, without having to relocate the alternator, without having to extend the alternator wiring, without having to buy a manual rack, and without having to loose your AC... pretty much this is a lot easier to install. This kit is for the street guy and hardcore racer alike.

The ZR1 system still has the power steering on the same drive as the blower. What it looks like is GM extended the power steering shaft and supported the shaft itself and not the pump so the load is on the shaft, not the pump. This helps, but it is best to remove it from the SC drive system.

I especially like that aspect of this cutting edge and innovative new set up, entirely consistent boost levels PLUS more accessory and belt life with no other sacrifices.

My hats off to Hormilla Performance Engineering on this one.

This sounds totally awesome

Q - How many belts will actually be needed? (From what I see its 3 - yeah or neah?)

Q - Belt lengths! Will there be a formula for the extra belts needed?

Q - It looks as if some will be the same length no matter who's Vette - Is this true?

Q - Will the only length specific belt needed be the one that drives the ProCharger - depending on pulley size and bracket make (for instance mine is a A&A 2nd generation bracket)?

Q - What accessories are actually belted (Coupled) together?

I definetely like the idea of having a shorter ProCharger belt as well as it being easier to change!

I will certainly be looking forward to some of the answers and is it possible for more pics?

Thanks,Matt

Another quick question!

Q - The lower IDLER pulley(Very bottom) on the right side of the set-up, I am having trouble seeing what belt goes to that idler pulley, what is that one going to be for?

I am really looking closely, as I like this a lot!

Are there any pics from the ProChargers angle towards the right side of the motor (Frontal view that is)?

Thanks,Matt
