I don't know how you can avoid adjusting the rear belt they don't stay tight forever. A brand new rear belt will need to be adjusted several times before it settles down.
I have often been concerned about the bearings when adjusting my rear belt. I have a belt gauge that I use when adjusting mine and to keep the rear belt from slipping I usually have to adjust it to around 100 lbs, for comparison the front belt measures only around 40 lbs. I would sleep a lot better if the rear of the maggie used a cog belt system.
