Default Paddle shifter for 4L65E

I've seen a few of these emerging and wondering if any are "ready for prime time"

has anyone had any experience with these on a c5 automatic.

Rodney built me a really nice trans, but I like the idea of a paddle shifter. sometimes the "economy calibration" for light throttle shifting isn't what I'd like for street driving.

thanks.

i think they could be great, but only if they could give you 100% control over the shifting. ie both up and down the box!

Chris.

I have wondered this myself. Maybe C6 auto owners could chime in on how they like it.

I've got a TCI TCom box and a up/down shift button
It's pretty much instant at WOT..

do all of these systems require "full time paddle shifting" or can you have a PCM or paddle shift. some of the ones I've seen have a "button" which clipped on the steering wheel and was pretty cheezy

the one I saw at carlisle this year actually had a stick that was very durable that you could shift up or down and was designed well.

not sure of the cost. the TCM replaces the PCM control doesn't it?

I'm looking for something with a similar capability of the c6, but don't want a c6, my little twin turbo c5 is just fine, just looking for a bit more control over the auto. maybe just a shifter would do it!

Yea, when you power up the up/down switch, it takes control of it from the normal or WOT tables..

nmp27, I have a few questions that I hope you don't mind answering.
1. When you use the paddles, are the shifts instantaneous, or do they lag as if using the standard lever and pulling it down into 3, 2, 1?
2. When the shift occurs, is it jerky or smooth? When I use the lever, the shift into 3rd and 2nd, although slow, can be made a little smooth. However 1st is always harsh and a bit scary frankly.
3. When not using the paddles or buttons, is their a mode in that controller that allows the pcm to do its own thing as if stock?
Thanks in advanced.

That doesn't seem to offer any advantage over using the standard lever aside from the fact it allows you to keep both hands on the wheel. The tci one seems much more sophisticated, just wondering if it works as advertised.

love to hear more about this setup and see how the buttons are mounted. most of the paddle shifter setups don't work with the airbag steering wheels

the "direct interface" controller box from TCI looks great, but you have to program for your application but it gives full control very nice
