a set of 317's got sold on ls1tech, a couple of days ago, for $125.00 bucks. try to find a set of those and do some bowl blending yourself. nothing extravagant. then maybe have a 3 angle valve job done. a set of 918 springs (depending on cam). you'd have a helluva set of heads for under 500 bucks.
well, that is if you're a diy.
We use Patriot heads on a lot of builds, and they work really well for up to 16 psi of boost. Check this C5 out that has Patriot LQ9 Stage 2 heads out. http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com...Car.php?car=54
With 346 and D-1SC

Over 700 rwhp on a Mustang Chassis Dyno, which uses eddy current (http://www.exoticperformanceplus.com/dyno.php ) would be approx 750 rwhp on a DynoJet Chassis Dyno! Considering some of this horsepower is used up through the IRS rear-end, this is really impressive! All out of just 346 cubic inches on 93 octane pump gas!
With the methanol kit, we were able to add a lot more timing into the computer, which picked up the rwhp from 705 to 740! The methanol kit will not only allow more timing to be used, but it will also cool down the inlet air temperature.
so that 700 rwhp was on stricly 93? nothing added? thats amazing for a 346 with mild compression. Those patriot heads must really like boost. They really are the best bang for the buck.
The old shortblock is for sale: $1,000.00 Sold!!
2004 LS1 alum block, stock crank, Callies Compstar rods, Diamond pistons, Total Seal Rings, Lingenfelter GT2-3 camshaft, Comp timing chain set, SLP oil pump, ARP head studs.
do you have another forsale for that price???
With a 4.50 blower pulley swap to slow the blower down, we ended up with 15.9 psi of boost, and 804 rwhp with only 17 degrees of timing! The power starts falling off at 6000 rpm, most likely the cylinder heads are affecting the power. With 800 rwhp being the goal, we certainly met it and added a lot more torque to boot!
so with the 402, an extra 2psi, and a fast 90/90 a 100whp was picked up?
not too bad, im completely impressed on that 700whp pum pgas 346.
Here is an even better heads on a set of Dart 225 heads (will make more power on his forged motor application that can run more boost) that have .650 lift springs on them, titanium retainer, ported, and sold by one of our own for $1,250 shipped to his door!
The Dart 225 Heads are a very popular and PROVEN Head for f/i applications and they are GREAT BANG for the buck! These exact 225 Dart head were run for the longest time with that one guy on ls1tech that has one of the fastest stock cubed procharged f-bodies (KP) where he was running mid to low 9s all day long with these! These same Dart 225 heads are also run by tuner for ECS who lives down south I believe on his turbo forged Z06 (Blown Z06 aka Nick) a forum tuner! He recommended them to me that my first forged motor I had built a couple of years ago by LME (that I sold) also was running the Dart 225s on a stock cubed forged cent. supercharged motor!
