Hello. I need some help picking out a cam for my ride. My car is just a weekend driver and i would like to take it to the local drag strip for a pass or two. My car has a stock trans with 3200 stall, 3:15 diff, stock ls1 bottom end, stock heads, a&a p1sc (3.85 pulley), 42# injectors, meth kit, bap, headers and high flow cats. I will be doing all the supporting mods with the cam (lpe in tank pump, springs, rods, chain and oil pump, etc). I want to start collecting parts for the install and do it in the next few months. So i guess what im asking is is there a cam that will be perfect for my car? I like the lope of a big cam like the EG whiplash but want to make sure it will have a good power curve and not hurt my bottom end torque. Cam will be my last power adding mod on my stock bottom end ls1. Later down the road i will be doing tranny and rear end. Thanks for your help guys and if you have some parts for cheap please let me know. Thanks Ted
I would call A&A or ECS and talk to them directly. Asking online you'll end up with guys that recommend "their" cam 'cuz it works for them. May/may not work best for you.
I wouldn't run a "Whiplash cam" with a P1SC, you'll need something tamer or you'll give up alot of low end torque. Something like a 222/228 will make 600 rwhp with a P1SC and all the boltons. I would also go straight to a set of 60lb injectors.
